A skin tag, medically known as acrochordon, is a small, benign growth on the skin’s surface.
These soft, hanging flaps of skin are typically flesh-colored or slightly darker and often appear in areas where skin rubs against skin or clothing, such as the neck, underarms, or groin.
Skin tags are harmless and painless, but they can be removed for cosmetic reasons or if they become irritated. Removal methods include cutting, freezing, or tying off the tag.
Skin tags are common and become more prevalent with age.
